Senior Analytics Engineer

What You’ll Do

We are looking for a sharp, commercially-minded and technically excellent Senior Analytics Engineer to take ownership of our mature, modern data stack (Snowflake, Snowplow, dbt, Funnel.io/Stitch/Fivetran).

While your initial mandate will focus initially on revolutionising our marketing analytics this role has a very wide scope. You will be the central pillar of our data operations across the entire business: e-commerce, subscriptions, retention, finance, customer service, fraud management and operations. We are looking for an ambitious builder to take the reins of our current infrastructure, and eventually own the data architecture and insights fuelling our growth.

If you love data, have a passion for technology, and want to drive strategy across every department of a rapidly growing business, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evolving Our Data Platform: Building on top of our established data platform, act as the primary data partner for the business. You will build, rearchitect, and scalable dbt models, and deliver strategic insights for Marketing, Digital, Finance, Operations (Supply Chain and Logistics), and Customer Service functions.
  • Single Customer View (SCV) & Identity Resolution: Implement and manage open-source entity resolution tools (such as Zingg) to bring together granular behavioural data and customer-facing systems. You will come to own the SCV that powers everything from acquisition attribution to LTV modelling.
  • Marketing Enablement: Evolve our multi-touch attribution data and frameworks by integrating new 3rd-party platform data with our 1st party Snowplow event data. You will develop, train, and maintain open-source predictive models (such as Google Meridian or Meta Robyn) to measure the incremental impact of our upper-funnel and dark traffic across Paid Social, Search, Affiliates, Referrers and our Internal CRM and RAF programmes.
  • Customer Lifecycle & Retention: Build out a comprehensive customer journey tracking framework, enabling the business to understand the impact of journey changes and retention tactics.
  • Digital Product & BML: Support the continuous improvement of our digital funnels and app by expanding our digital product analytics and experimentation suite.
  • Customer Service: Evolve our Customer Service analytics to provide a best-in-class suite of capabilities to empower our CS teams to provide the most effective customer support possible while identifying opportunities for better automation and digital CX improvements.
  • Finance: Support and evolve our FP&A and overall finance reporting systems, aligning management on business performance, and empowering technical accountants to better support the business.
  • Reporting & Dashboards: Design and build clean, actionable dashboards, translating data into clear commercial insights for leadership. This brings together business understanding, understanding of visual design and technical excellence.
  • Machine Learning & AI: Work with our data plus software engineer to build out pragmatic, lean ML and AI models in order to support acquisition and retention, forecasting, and operational effectiveness.
  • Data Culture & Self-Serve Analytics: Act as an internal data champion by enabling self-serve analytics, training cross-departmental stakeholders to confidently use our BI tools, and deepening our data-driven culture.

About You

  • Experience: 2 to 5 years of experience in Data Science, Analytics Engineering, or Data Engineering. (Note: We are open to offering exceptional graduates with a relevant quantitative/technical degree and demonstrable project experience in ML and data engineering)
  • Commercially Aware: You don't just build models; you care deeply about how your data translates to business strategy, operational efficiency, and revenue.
  • Brand & Tech Enthusiast: You love our product and are genuinely interested in the digital and technology landscape. You stay up-to-date with modern data stack and digital trends.
  • Leadership Potential: You are a self-starter who is comfortable working with ambiguity, eager to take full ownership of a mature data environment. You should bring ideas, energy and experience of what delivers value in a start-up environment, and have an ability to connect the dots.

Technical Requirements

  • Data Modelling and SQL You understand the concept of data modelling and are fluent in data warehousing concepts. You are extremely proficient in writing and refactoring clean, performant SQL while maintaining alignment with and improving our overall data architecture.
  • The Modern Data Stack: Hands-on experience with dbt and cloud data warehouses.
  • Web Analytics: Deep understanding of web analytics frameworks and first-party event tracking (such as Snowplow/Segment/Rudderstack).
  • Statistics & Machine Learning: A solid understanding of statistics, regression modelling, and machine learning concepts (especially relating to predictive modelling or active learning).
  • BI & Visualisation: Experience building reports in modern BI platforms (Looker, Holistics, or similar).
  • Marketing Data: Previous experience with identity resolution and/or Marketing Mix Modelling frameworks.
  • Values: Have a passion for delivering value for internal and external, being an advocate for data and data-driven change.

What We Offer

  • An industry-leading, value-driving data infrastructure ready for you to take over and optimise.
  • Direct impact on overarching business strategy, ad spend efficiency, digital product design and operational excellence.
  • A great working environment in a rapidly growing business.
