Apprentice Information Communications Technician

The successful apprentice will provide technical support and guidance to staff via phone, email, or instant messaging. You will monitor and report on system availability and assist the IT team with the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of hardware, software, and network devices.

Role

An Information Communications Technician provides varied support to customers, including setting people up on systems, configuring and despatching hardware to users, providing support when needed and rectifying issues to maintain the organisation's productivity.

The role includes:

  • Answering the telephone.
  • Assisting users with common issues relating to hardware, software, web applications and connectivity.

You will learn to use a large variety of tools to resolve IT issues including:

  • Password resets and restoring lost files.
  • Setting up new user accounts.
  • A countless variety of complex and intriguing problems that require a keen, enquiring and logical mind to troubleshoot.

Training

For the full apprenticeship, candidates will complete:

  • Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard in Information Communications Technician.
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English.
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths.

For the End Point Assessment (EPA) apprentices will undertake a professional discussion underpinned by the portfolio, and a project report with questioning.

Apprentices are expected to attend college one day per week (term-time only) at the Ipswich Road campus, located near Norwich city centre.

A position may be available for the right candidate following successful completion of the apprenticeship. The business is looking for somebody who wants to develop and gain a position following their apprenticeship.
