Role Overview: The Director of Finance and Resources is a cornerstone of the Leadership Team. This role is essential for ensuring financial sustainability, operational efficiency, and strategic resource planning. As a qualified Finance Director you will be expected to lead finance, people, infrastructure, legal, governance, and facilities functions, driving continuous improvement and supporting enhanced fundraising and income generation activities. Principal Responsibilities:
- Serve as a key member of the Senior Management Team, contributing to strategy and decision-making.
- Support the Trustee Board and relevant committees, particularly the Finance Committee.
- Develop and implement a 3-to-5-year business plan in collaboration with the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees.
- Lead the charity’s financial strategy, ensuring sustainability and alignment with overall goals.
- Provide strategic oversight and leadership for finance, HR, IT, governance, legal, and facilities functions.
- Support contract negotiation and income generation activities.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, contractual, and regulatory financial requirements.
- Foster a positive, solution-focused culture and develop a high-performing finance and operations team.
Skills and Experience Required:
- Professional accountancy qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or equivalent financial commercial management experience
- Significant senior management experience managing financial, people, and infrastructure resources.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in financial planning and management.
- Highly organised with excellent IT proficiency.
- Experience in strategic financial planning, ideally within a third sector organisation
- Strong understanding of government service contracts and grant funding models.
- Exceptional leadership and people skills with the ability to work effectively and diplomatically with others.
Security Clearance:The successful candidate will be required to undergo an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (EDBS) check.
