Job Title: AWS Cloud Platform Engineer

Location: Dublin - Leopardstown (3 days in office)

Contract: 12 months contract

Rate: 550 EUR per day via Umbrella/LTD

About the Role

Our team is building resilient, secure, and scalable cloud platforms that support the next generation of digital financial applications. We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Platform Engineer to join our Cloud and Data Center Services team.

This role is ideal for a hands-on cloud engineer who combines strong AWS platform engineering capabilities with a solid understanding of networking, security, automation, and infrastructure architecture. You will be responsible for designing, building, automating, and supporting enterprise-scale cloud platforms used across critical business services.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain secure, scalable, and highly available AWS cloud platforms.
• Develop and manage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows.
• Partner with Engineering, Security, SRE, and Operations teams to deliver cloud-native solutions.
• Drive automation initiatives to improve platform stability, reliability, and operational efficiency.
• Champion DevSecOps practices by embedding security controls throughout the platform lifecycle.
• Design and support AWS networking solutions including VPCs, DNS, Firewalls, Load Balancers, Routing, and Proxy services.
• Support containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes/EKS.
• Implement and maintain cloud security controls, IAM policies, encryption solutions, and governance frameworks.
• Contribute to observability and monitoring strategies using AWS-native and enterprise monitoring tools.
• Optimize cloud performance, resilience, and cost efficiency across large-scale AWS environments.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams.
• Stay current with emerging cloud technologies and recommend innovative solutions.

Required Skills & Experience

• Years of experience in Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering, or Infrastructure Engineering.
• Years of hands-on AWS experience designing and supporting enterprise cloud environments.
• Strong experience building production-grade cloud infrastructure within regulated environments.
• Expertise in AWS services, cloud networking, security, governance, and identity management.
• Advanced knowledge of:
• Firewalls
• DNS
• Load Balancers
• Routing
• Proxies
• Hybrid connectivity
• Strong Terraform and Infrastructure as Code experience.
• Experience with AWS Landing Zones, Multi-Account Architectures, and AWS Control Tower.
• Strong knowledge of IAM, KMS, encryption, and Zero Trust security principles.
• Hands-on Kubernetes/EKS and Docker experience.
• Experience building and supporting CI/CD pipelines and GitOps environments.
• Proficiency in Python, Go, Shell, or other scripting languages.
• Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Dynatrace, and AWS-native solutions.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Experience

• Financial Services, Banking, FinTech, or other highly regulated environments.
• Multi-cloud exposure.
• Cloud cost optimization and FinOps experience.
• DevSecOps implementation experience.
• Open-source contributions or active participation in cloud engineering communities.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale cloud transformation programmes.
