What You'll Do:
As a Data Governance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how our client manages their data. Your responsibilities will include:
- Framework Development: Define and maintain data governance frameworks, policies, and standards, transforming strategic objectives into clear, actionable artefacts.
- Data Quality Assurance: Establish and oversee data quality standards, metrics, and ownership, ensuring consistent monitoring and reporting across various domains.
- Data Classification: Implement data classification, metadata, and catalogue practices, ensuring effective handling and discoverability of data assets.
- Secure Data Sharing: Craft and implement policies for safe and compliant data sharing, aligning with regulatory requirements.
- Governance Processes: Define governance processes, embedding preventative controls and checkpoints throughout delivery lifecycles.
- Operational Integration: Embed governance into daily operations through data contracts and lifecycle controls, providing guidance to stakeholders.
- Risk Management: Identify and manage data risks, ensuring that governance controls meet all regulatory, security, and assurance needs.
- Promote Data Literacy: Capture and share governance standards and practices to enhance organizational data literacy and foster consistent adoption.
What You Bring:
To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:
Essential:
- Proven experience in defining and implementing data governance policies and frameworks.
- Strong understanding of data quality management, metadata, and data lifecycle governance.
- Ability to translate strategic insights into practical implementation artefacts.
- Excellent collaboration skills to work across business and technical stakeholders.
- Experience working with or alongside consultancies.
Desirable:
- Knowledge of regulatory environments (e.g., Ofgem, energy sector).
- Familiarity with federated data operating models or data mesh concepts.
- Experience embedding governance into product or delivery lifecycles.
