What You'll Do:

As a Data Governance Manager, you will play a pivotal role in shaping how our client manages their data. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Framework Development: Define and maintain data governance frameworks, policies, and standards, transforming strategic objectives into clear, actionable artefacts.
  • Data Quality Assurance: Establish and oversee data quality standards, metrics, and ownership, ensuring consistent monitoring and reporting across various domains.
  • Data Classification: Implement data classification, metadata, and catalogue practices, ensuring effective handling and discoverability of data assets.
  • Secure Data Sharing: Craft and implement policies for safe and compliant data sharing, aligning with regulatory requirements.
  • Governance Processes: Define governance processes, embedding preventative controls and checkpoints throughout delivery lifecycles.
  • Operational Integration: Embed governance into daily operations through data contracts and lifecycle controls, providing guidance to stakeholders.
  • Risk Management: Identify and manage data risks, ensuring that governance controls meet all regulatory, security, and assurance needs.
  • Promote Data Literacy: Capture and share governance standards and practices to enhance organizational data literacy and foster consistent adoption.

What You Bring:

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications:

Essential:

  • Proven experience in defining and implementing data governance policies and frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of data quality management, metadata, and data lifecycle governance.
  • Ability to translate strategic insights into practical implementation artefacts.
  • Excellent collaboration skills to work across business and technical stakeholders.
  • Experience working with or alongside consultancies.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of regulatory environments (e.g., Ofgem, energy sector).
  • Familiarity with federated data operating models or data mesh concepts.
  • Experience embedding governance into product or delivery lifecycles.
