Digital Product Manager (Backend / Data) Utilities Hybrid: Warwick (2 days per month onsite) 6 months+ £600 per day
In short: Classic Digital Product Manager with experience more towards backend and data-related product required to join a large utilities company in delivering on a number of solutions. We're looking for a strong character that can get into the detail and/or data to justify making decisions and ensuring that our third party partners remain aligned to the business requirements and capability.

With our ambitious plans to reimagine the Digital future, you'll be d eveloping our digital products and agenda, delivering digital technologies, to optimise energy generation, transmission, and distribution. You'll be overseeing the lifecycle of an entire line of products that will help make Net Zero happen. Many of these products are completely bespoke, designed and created in-house. You'll be involved in everything from setting the product vision and strategic roadmap, collaborating with senior stakeholders, and leading a squad to from discovery through to product design and production. You'll be working on a combination of SaaS products as well as greenfield projects with enormous scope and multi-million-pound investment. You'll be given great autonomy and the opportunity to deliver meaningful change at the heart of the energy transition.
Building strong, collaborative relationships with senior management will be a big part of the role as you'll need to influence attitudes, decisions and actions for mutual benefit and keep colleagues updated on digital progress. You'll set out a strategic digital roadmap and backlog for your product lines and implement systems such as team structures and ways of working. In addition, you'll research the market to introduce market leading digital products that deliver value to the business, customer.
Overview
- Communicating and building strong, collaborative relationships with senior management. This is the biggest part of the role. You will influence attitudes, decisions and actions for mutual benefit and keep colleagues updated on digital progress.
- Setting out a digital roadmap for your product line and implementing systems such as team structures and ways of working.
- Researching the market and introducing market leading digital products.
- Taking charge of a suite of bespoke products, such as our Workbook product, that provides transparency and visibility across the entire Strategic Infrastructure division. Or delivering Products to enable the delivery of huge infrastructure projects that will make a huge impact on the environment.
- Communicating the overall vision of your digital roadmap.
- Ensuring your team members build good relationships with relevant stakeholders. They must be professional, open, collaborative, and able to challenge others and be challenged themselves in an amicable, respectful way.
- Developing a well-balanced, cross-functional team by ensuring learning opportunities are identified and optimised, and people are given the support they need.
- Acting as the ultimate escalation point for issue resolution within your field.
- Managing requirements through the entire delivery and operational lifecycle.
- Championing the importance and value of requirement management principles.
- Planning and leading scoping, requirements definition, and priority setting.
- Making digital a reality, rather than an aspiration. Driving a digital culture and the adoption of products across New Infrastructure, in alignment with the strategic direction.
- Building on enduring digital product capability to enable continuous digital improvement.
Detailed Accountabilities:
Product Management, Managing and developing products or services through their full life cycle from inception, growth, maturity, decline to retirement.
- Manages the full product lifecycle to ensure that, over time, the needs of customers/users continue to be met and that financial and other benefits are achieved.
- Acts as owner/champion for one or more products or services.
- Selects, adopts, and adapts appropriate product development methods, tools, and techniques selecting appropriately from predictive (plan-driven) approaches or adaptive (iterative/agile) approaches.
- Analyses market and/or user research, feedback, expert opinion, and usage data to understand needs and opportunities.
- Develops product propositions and determines product positioning and variants for different customer and user segments. Prioritises product requirements and owns the product backlog.
