JOB DESCRIPTION

• Accountability for design, implementation, security, maintenance and support of software-defined infrastructure resources.
• Identifies shortcomings, then suggests and implements improvements to existing business practices, while developing and delivering projects or a workstream within the organisation's change management programme with guidance from senior colleagues.
• Provide input into the development of IT Security policies, develops underlying procedures and monitors their implementation for area of responsibility within the organisation.
• Identify and evaluates complex expertise-led solutions against a range of criteria to find the ones that best meet business needs.
• Delivers prescribed outcomes for area of responsibility by working within established strategic planning systems.

What you'll need

• Extensive experience in designing, implementing, and supporting software-defined infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of network security principles and traffic management.
• Proficiency in automation tools and scripting languages to enhance infrastructure efficiency.
• Experience in delivering complex projects and working within established strategic planning systems.
• Ability to identify and evaluate technical solutions to meet business needs.
• Knowledge of IT Security policies and procedures, with experience monitoring their implementation.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to suggest and implement improvements to existing practices.
• Strong communication skills to collaborate with senior colleagues and provide clear input into policy development.

F5 Technologies

• Comprehensive knowledge of F5 BIG-IP architecture and modules (LTM, GTM, ASM, APM).
• Proficiency with F5 Declarative Onboarding (DO) and Application Services 3 Extension (AS3).
• Familiarity with iRules.

Automation & Scripting

• Expertise in Python (particularly for automation and integration).
• Experience with Ansible and Ansible Playbooks.
• Familiarity with Jinja templating engine.
• Bash or shell scripting for system-level automation.

CI/CD & DevOps Tooling

• Practical experience with Jenkins (pipelines, shared libraries).
• Understanding of CI/CD principles and pipeline orchestration.
• Exposure to Backstage and Harness (for future IDP migration).
• Git-based workflows (GitHub, GitLab).

Infrastructure as Code (IaC)

• Experience with Terraform or similar IaC tools.
• Managing infrastructure state and modular deployments.

Networking & Security

• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP/S, DNS, SSL/TLS.
• Familiarity with firewall rules, load balancing, and reverse proxying.
• Understanding of Zero Trust and network segmentation.

Desirable Skills & Concepts

• Technical experience within financial services organisations.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tooling such as Jira.
• Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid networking.
• Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools (Splunk).
