Lead Service Designer

Edinburgh (2 days per week onsite) | 6-month contract | £600 per day (Inside IR35)

Are you a strategic Service Designer who thrives on bringing clarity to complexity? This is an opportunity to join a major UK banking group at the heart of a high-profile simplification programme - transforming how millions of customers experience their everyday banking and savings products.

You'll help shape the future of the bank's savings portfolio, driving the transition from 67 to just 9 streamlined products. Working closely with design, product, and business leaders, you'll visualise how this simplification impacts customers, colleagues, and the wider digital ecosystem - creating alignment, clarity, and momentum across multiple teams.

• Lead strategic service design across a major product simplification programme, translating complex change into actionable design direction.

• Collaborate with product partners to shape a cohesive customer experience and support digital portfolio transformation.

• Visualise end-to-end journeys, information architecture, and service ecosystems to help stakeholders see the "bigger picture."

• Bring structure to ambiguity - defining plans, coordinating activity, and proactively driving updates and alignment.

• Balance design leadership with delivery discipline - combining design thinking, project management, and stakeholder engagement.

• Proven experience in strategic or lead-level Service Design, ideally within financial services or large-scale digital environments.

• Strength in stakeholder management, able to influence, facilitate, and align senior partners across functions.

• Skilled at visualising complexity - using artefacts such as service blueprints, IA diagrams, and roadmaps to communicate clearly.

• Experience simplifying or redesigning product or service portfolios.

• Confident operating in a legacy environment, bringing order, clarity, and a plan for action.

You'll be stepping into a visible, strategic role within one of the UK's most recognised financial institutions, helping redefine how customers engage with core savings products. You'll work alongside talented designers and strategists who value collaboration, creativity, and clarity - with the autonomy to shape a meaningful piece of work that impacts millions of customers.
