Openings: 1
Working Pattern: 3-4 days per week in office
Working Hours: 40 hours per week
Contract: PAYE
Estimated Start Date: ASAP
Estimated End Date: 6 months

Role Overview

We are looking for a highly capable Programmer/Analyst II to partner with the EU Fleet Planning team and accelerate delivery of the automation roadmap. This role supports the development, testing, and operationalisation of a science-based optimisation model designed to generate optimal fleet allocation plans and streamline end-to-end fleet scheduling operations.

The successful candidate will design, execute, and analyse User Acceptance Test (UAT) scenarios across multiple stages of model development and integration. This role requires a detail-oriented analyst with strong technical skills, high ownership, and the ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments-hallmarks of success in our organisation's culture.

Key Responsibilities

User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

  • Create, execute, and analyse UAT scenarios required to complete development of the science optimisation model.
  • Develop and run UAT scenarios using real operational data to validate model behaviour and outputs.
  • Build, test, and analyse UAT scenarios focused on integrating and operationalising the optimisation model within fleet scheduling tools.
  • Document defects, edge cases, and improvement opportunities; partner closely with technical teams to drive resolution.

Data Analysis & Technical Execution

  • Build, manage, and analyse complex datasets using SQL and Excel (SQL required; advanced proficiency preferred).
  • Extract insights, evaluate model performance, and identify discrepancies or optimisation opportunities.
  • Apply critical thinking to ambiguous technical and business requirements, translating them into structured testing approaches.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with the Senior Fleet Supply Chain Manager based in London who is responsible for developing automation products.
  • Interact regularly with science, engineering, planning, and operational stakeholders across multiple locales.
  • Ramp up quickly on existing tools, processes, and data flows to deliver independently.

Business Context - Story Behind the Need

The EU Fleet Planning team ensures that Delivery Stations (DS) and Delivery Service Partners (DSPs) have the right number of vehicles to complete last-mile delivery routes. The team collaborates with multiple stakeholders to ingest data signals and produce weekly fleet allocation plans.

The organisation is now investing in automation tools and advanced science models to streamline planning processes and improve efficiency. This role supports that transformation by accelerating UAT cycles, enabling science validation, and ensuring successful implementation into operational tools.

Typical Day in the Role

  • Independent execution of UAT cycles and documentation of test outcomes
  • Frequent interactions with cross-functional teams
  • Hands-on data analysis and SQL work
  • 3-4 days per week in the central London office to ensure effective collaboration
  • Occasional flexibility depending on project requirements

Candidate Value Proposition

  • High-exposure role with visibility across multiple teams in the supply chain and fleet ecosystem
  • Direct impact on an automation programme central to operational efficiency
  • Opportunity to work with science, data, engineering, and supply chain stakeholders
  • Experience in a highly scalable, high-standards environment with strong professional development potential
