Security Architect

Security Architect Utilities Predominantly remote: 1-2 days per month in Warwick 6 months+ £750 per day

In short: We're seeking a strong, classic Security Architect to assist in securing a number of applications for our operational sites.

Job Purpose

As a Security Architect, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and protection of our information systems. Your expertise will help identify potential risks and vulnerabilities and develop effective mitigation strategies. By providing guidance and support, you will contribute to our vision of being a world-leading Information Technology and Digital function in the energy sector.

What you'll do

  • Providing security guidance and support to projects and programs.
  • Defining and owning the security scope and architecture for various projects.
  • Driving security requirements, architectures, patterns, and approaches.
  • Collaborating with development teams to advise and consult on security matters.
  • Ensuring solutions comply with security requirements and managing risks.
  • Removing impediments for successful delivery of security initiatives.
  • Providing technical security input as required by the security policy lead.
  • Coordinating technical design and review activities within the Security team.
  • Identifying and addressing key risks and issues in alignment with business needs.
  • Conducting risk assessments to identify cyber threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Conducting supply chain assurance for suppliers and reviewing vendor contracts.
  • Developing and implementing strategies to mitigate cyber risks.
  • Staying updated with the latest cyber threats and recommending security controls.
  • Maintaining documentation and reporting on security-related activities.

About you

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and 
  • Multiple examples of related experience.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and autonomous environment.
  • Experience collaborating with colleagues and suppliers in different time zones.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrable examples of experience across security domains
  • Anticipates internal and/or external business challenges and/or regulatory issues; recommends process, product, or service improvements. Solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on the business. Contributes to the development of functional strategy. Operates with little or no supervision in a complex environment.
  • Establishes short- and long-term objectives; determines work activities to meet objectives; self-supervisory.
  • Recommends/implements changes in strategy which support our objectives. Success depends on the ability to influence others and expresses ideas/opinions with assurance.
