The Business Intelligence Analyst will support the delivery of high-quality, timely and accurate data, reporting and analysis across the organisation and provideprovide critical resilience within the Business Intelligence and IT functions.

About us
Portsdown Group Practice covers the whole of Portsmouth from postcodes PO1 to PO7. We operate from 6 surgeries: Cosham Park House (PO6 3BG), Crookhorn Lane (PO7 5XP, Heyward Road (PO4 0DY), Kingston Crescent (PO2 8AL), Paulsgrove (PO6 4HJ), and Somerstown (PO5 4EZ).
We are our own Primary Care Network (PCN). We have Clinical Partners, Salaried GPs and a comprehensive Nursing and extended clinical team overseen by our Clinical Team Manager. The team consists of Nurse / Paramedic Practitioners, Registered Nurses, HCAs, MSK Physiotherapists, Podiatrist, Social Prescribers and Care Co-ordinators. The Pharmacy team consists of Clinical Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.
Multi-disciplinary teams work across all sites.
Job description
Job responsibilities
Business Intelligence & Reporting
- Design, develop, maintain and publish Power BI dashboards and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
- Design and run SystmOne searches, reports and dashboards to support clinical, operational and contractual reporting.
- Challenge pre-conceived ideas and ways of working to help drive future development of systems and ways of working
- Produce routine weekly, monthly and ad-hoc performance reports including KPIs, benchmarking and trend analysis.
- Maintain and update practice monitoring spreadsheets and datasets within agreed timeframes.
- Archive and manage legacy reports to ensure information remains current and relevant.
- Provide additional support for data-driven contract management, claims, QOF activity and audit requirements when required.
Data Quality & Assurance
- Monitor and improve data quality across systems, identifying issues in data capture and working with teams to address them.
- Carry out routine data quality work (e.g. patient demographics, contact details, workflow and tasks).
- Support APEX data validation and other regular data quality processes.
- Respond to data queries (e.g. record validation, pop-ups, missing indicators).
Systems & Configuration
- Develop and support SystmOne configuration, including:
Templates
Dashboards
Pop-ups and workflows
- Assist with maximising the configuration of clinical and business systems to improve efficiency and performance.
- Support monitoring and filling of unbooked appointments.
- Provide resilience support for the IT Administrator where appropriate, including system-related support and projects.
- Ensure the organisation effectively utilises Artificial Intelligence systems to maximise efficiency and accuracy across all departments.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with Practice Directors, Managers, Partners and departments leads to identify new areas that would benefit from BI monitoring.
- Attend practice and operational meetings and present data when required.
- Support colleagues to understand and use reports effectively, promoting data literacy.
- Collating and distributing datasets to department leads for narrative and assurance purposes.
Continuous Improvement
- Regularly review the systems in use, explore new systems and ways of working
- Contribute to quality improvement and service development initiatives through insight and analysis.
- Support benchmarking, patient surveys and external reporting requirements.
- Proactively identify opportunities to automate, streamline or enhance reporting processes.
- Undertake any other additional duties appropriate to the post as requested by the Partners, or Line Managers.

Skills & Knowledge
- Excellent attention to detail and data accuracy.
- Ability to explain complex data clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Good understanding of data governance, confidentiality and information security.

Qualifications
- Good standard of general education
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent experience in data, analytics, information management or a related field.
- Willingness to undertake continued professional development.
Experience
- Experience designing and delivering reports and dashboards from live data systems.
- Advanced experience with Excel and Power BI for analysis and visualisation.
- Experience in working with Artificial Intelligence systems.
- Experience working with clinical, operational or case management systems (eg SystmOne or equivalent).
- Experience supporting users with data-related queries or system use.
- Demonstrable ability to analyse complex or incomplete datasets accurately.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
