Business Analyst
Positive Employment is currently recruiting for a Business Analyst for our client, a local government organisation based in Southampton.
The successful post holder will provide analysis expertise to projects and programmes by applying practiced tools and techniques. Ensure that the status quo is challenged, and that new approaches are aligned to the organisation's design principles and proposed solutions are fit for the future.
This role is a temporary contract with an initial period of 3 months, with the possibility to extend. This role hybrid working.
Duties and Responsibilities but not limited to:
- Document, define and challenge business, system or process requirements using appropriate techniques, identifying and highlighting critical requirements. Identifying and documenting opportunities for change, efficiency and improvement throughout.
- Undertake feasibility studies which investigate the impact of business problems (high spend, bottle necks, paper based inefficiencies), service data, identify options and consider the viability and associated risks of possible solutions.
- Identifying and agreeing metrics (including benefits and measures of success), measurement approaches and baselines.
- Working with Strategy & Performance team to identify funding and bid opportunities.
- Constructively challenging thinking to effectively implement standardised approaches.
- Data interrogation and translation/presenting in a format that is widely understandable and providing analysis, data and information to support decision making.
- To ensure that all presented data is subject to quality checking procedures, and that information produced is accurate, robust and fit for purpose
- Developing and documenting solutions, ensuring stakeholders are fully engaged.
- Producing estimates of analysis activity and impact assessments.
- Producing acceptance criteria agreed with relevant stakeholders and monitoring achievement of those criteria.
- Co-ordinating user acceptance testing and develop procedures and processes to ensure it’s effective.
- Producing and/or delivering testing documentation, business readiness documentation and support.
- To undertake process mapping exercises, quality reviews and to create, implement and manage workflow automation through process.
- Using a system led approach to centralise information and promote a unified workforce.
- To actively contribute to the development of the change capability within the council.
- Contribute to ensuring scope, products and deliverables are delivered to agreed time, cost, quality and compliance objectives
Personal Requirements:
- Educated to degree level or relevant professional experience.
- Evidence of innovative solution design.
- Experience and skill in business process analysis including use of business process mapping and tasks analysis techniques and tools.
- Experience of supporting cultural and behavioural change to support new ways of working, improve the experience or outcomes for the customer.
- Evidence of effective engagement and communication with a wide range of key stakeholders.
- Analytical and proactive approach to problem resolution
- Clear understanding of risks/issues and the impact on project success, including the definition and execution of effective risk mitigation actions.
- Ability to provide project status updates as inputs to project boards and key governance processes.
- Highly developed communication, challenge and negotiating skills with the ability to engage with a wide range of audiences.
- To have experience of interpreting and presenting data and information to enable effective decision making.
- To have experience of successfully delivering regular performance monitoring reports and/or dashboards, including the monitoring of targets and the use of benchmarking data data quality issues and taking action to correct these.
- Experience of working in a complex, politically sensitive environment (Desirable).
Working Hours: Full Time Hours / Monday - Friday
Pay: £31.13 per hour
