D365 Engineer - Dynamics 365/Power Platform

D365 Engineer - Dynamics 365/Power Platform

A leading professional-services organisation is seeking a D365 Engineer to take technical ownership of its Microsoft Dynamics 365 platform.

This is an opportunity to become the design authority for a growing D365 estate rather than simply delivering changes against an established roadmap. You will shape the platform's architecture, governance and technical direction while helping the organisation maximise its wider investment in Microsoft technology.

The initial focus will be on Dynamics 365 Customer Service and CRM, supported by Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse and Copilot Studio.

The role

You will own the D365 platform from a technical perspective, establishing the standards, guardrails and architectural direction required to support its continued development.

Working closely with D365 developers, the wider Applications function, the Service Desk and external Microsoft partners, you will ensure the platform remains secure, scalable, well governed and aligned with the organisation's wider technology strategy.

Key responsibilities

  • Act as the technical owner and design authority for the D365 platform, primarily across Customer Service and CRM.
  • Define and evolve the target architecture for D365 and the wider Power Platform.
  • Own the life cycle of D365 environments from creation through to retirement.
  • Establish best practice across security, integrations, data models and Application Lifecycle Management.
  • Manage the platform roadmap, including upgrades, releases, capacity, licensing and technical debt.
  • Review technical designs and help developers resolve complex platform issues.
  • Provide architectural input into new requirements and proposed changes.
  • Establish appropriate governance for Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse and Copilot Studio.
  • Manage the relationship with the organisation's D365 delivery partner and Microsoft.
  • Support the Service Desk with the diagnosis and resolution of D365 issues.
  • Translate technical decisions and trade-offs clearly for non-technical stakeholders.
  • Use lessons from incidents and support activity to improve platform architecture and standards.

Requirements

  • At least two years' hands-on experience working with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Strong experience with D365 Customer Service and/or CRM/Customer Engagement.
  • Working knowledge of Power Apps, Power Automate and Dataverse.
  • A sound understanding of D365 architecture, data models, security, integrations and Application Lifecycle Management.
  • Experience working alongside developers, reviewing designs and providing technical direction.
  • Experience managing or working closely with Microsoft delivery partners.
  • An understanding of governance, security and licensing across the Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical decisions to business stakeholders.
  • A pragmatic, collaborative and continuous-improvement mindset.

Desirable experience

  • Copilot Studio.
  • Azure integration services, Microsoft Fabric, Foundry or Copilot.
  • Supporting a Service Desk or second-line support function.
  • D365 Customer Insights.
  • Legal or professional-services experience.
  • Microsoft certifications such as PL-600, MB-230 or MB-210.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on D365 specialist who wants genuine ownership of a Microsoft platform and the freedom to influence how it is governed, developed and evolved.
