Data Governance Analyst

Location: London, UK (Hybrid - 3 days in office)

We are looking for a Data Governance Analyst to support the delivery, adoption and ongoing use of an enterprise Data Governance Framework within a global organisation. This is an operational, hands-on role working closely with Data Stewards, technology teams and governance stakeholders to improve data quality, consistency and accessibility.

The role offers an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build long-term expertise in data governance and data management within a complex, professional services environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Data Stewards to understand data needs and participate in governance forums
  • Support metadata import, curation and management within enterprise Data Management Technology (DMT)
  • Analyse business processes and data requirements to identify data management improvements
  • Develop user stories, use cases and functional requirements; track and manage governance issues
  • Support gap analysis across data management systems and processes
  • Participate in user acceptance testing to ensure solutions meet business needs
  • Create and maintain data catalogue documentation including definitions, sources, lineage and usage guidelines
  • Assist with the design and build of data catalogue content, metadata models and workflows
  • Maintain key governance assets such as the Business Glossary, Data Dictionary, Reference Data Lists and lineage maps
  • Support training delivery for Data Stewards and users of data governance tools
  • Assist with reference data management and automation of reference list workflows
  • Support adoption of external and industry data standards (eg SALI, NosLegal)
  • Contribute to firm-wide data strategy initiatives and governance projects

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree
  • Experience in a data-focused role such as Data Analyst or Business Analyst
  • Strong interest in developing a career in Data Governance
  • Good understanding of data management, data governance and analytics principles
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work across business and technology teams
  • Proactive, organised and comfortable managing multiple priorities
  • Experience producing business documentation, user stories and functional requirements
  • Hands-on experience using Power BI for reporting, visualisation and analytics
  • Experience managing data governance issues logs or similar tracking processes
  • Familiarity with Agile and/or Waterfall methodologies
