Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Engineer: Data Science to join a high-performing technology function. This role focuses on the design, development, and delivery of advanced analytics, machine learning, and AI solutions that support large-scale business operations. You will work alongside data scientists, engineers, and cross-functional teams to build reliable, scalable, production-ready solutions within a modern cloud environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Solution Delivery

  • Design, build, test, deploy, and support end-to-end data science and AI solutions.

  • Operationalise ML models using CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring.

  • Apply MLOps practices such as versioning, retraining, and drift detection.

  • Deliver scalable solutions using Azure ML, Databricks, MLflow, and similar platforms.

  • Implement generative AI and advanced analytics features including embeddings, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), AI agents, and conversational AI tools.

  • Write clean, well-documented, testable code following modern engineering practices.

Technical Design & Architecture

  • Ensure all solutions comply with security, governance, and architectural standards.

  • Work closely with architects, data teams, and key stakeholders to validate approaches.

  • Support ongoing life cycle management including monitoring, optimisation, and continuous improvement.

  • Evaluate and pilot emerging technologies to enhance scalability and solution quality.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field (Master's preferred).

  • Preferred certifications:

    • Azure AI Engineer Associate

    • Azure Data Scientist Associate

    • Databricks ML or equivalent cloud ML certifications

Experience & Skills:

  • 2-4 years' hands-on experience delivering ML/AI solutions into production.

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

  • Strong understanding of data lakehouse architectures, CI/CD, and containerisation (Docker/Kubernetes).

  • Proficiency with modern ML and AI frameworks including PyTorch, TensorFlow, LangChain, and enterprise AI platforms.

  • Practical experience with LLMs, embeddings, RAG, and AI agent/chatbot development.

  • Ability to write production-grade Python code and build APIs.

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts clearly.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
