Azure Programme Manager

Azure Programme Manager – 6-Month Fixed-Term Contract

  • Location: London
  • Contract: 6 months FTC
  • Hybrid working: 60% office / 40% remote, subject to business requirements

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Azure Programme Manager to lead a significant cloud transformation programme, overseeing the transition from on-premise infrastructure to Microsoft Azure.

Reporting to the Director of IT, you will take ownership of the planning, governance and delivery of the cloud migration programme, working closely with internal teams and a specialist third-party technology partner. This is a high-profile opportunity to play a key role in modernising the IT environment and delivering greater scalability, flexibility and agility.

While strong programme management experience is essential, deep technical expertise is not required. Technical leadership will be provided by the third-party partner; your focus will be on programme delivery, governance, stakeholder engagement, risk management and ensuring successful outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of significant infrastructure change projects and programmes, typically valued between £500k and £3m.
  • Develop and manage programme plans, milestones, resources, scope and deliverables.
  • Oversee the delivery of the Azure migration programme, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
  • Coordinate internal teams, suppliers and third-party partners to ensure successful delivery.
  • Manage programme budgets and provide transparent financial reporting.
  • Identify, assess and manage risks, issues and contingency plans.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs to track programme performance and benefits.
  • Produce clear, high-quality programme documentation and status reports for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Manage changes to agreed requirements, scope and deliverables.
  • Build effective relationships with third-party suppliers and ensure contractual requirements are met.
  • Ensure deliverables meet agreed quality standards and acceptance criteria.
  • Track progress against expected benefits and take appropriate action where required.
  • Work within established project governance and methodology frameworks, supporting the wider PMO and portfolio.
  • Ensure relevant legal, regulatory and organisational obligations are met.

About You

You will be an accomplished programme or project manager with a strong background in IT infrastructure transformation, ideally with experience delivering data centre migrations into hybrid cloud environments.

Essential experience

  • At least 5 years' project management experience delivering infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience managing data centre migrations to hybrid cloud environments.
  • A good understanding of Azure and cloud deployments.
  • Strong programme planning, governance, budget and risk management skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to engage confidently with senior stakeholders.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with data centres, networking, unified communications, Active Directory, Microsoft products, cloud technologies such as Azure or AWS, and security applications.
  • Experience managing third-party suppliers and outsourced service arrangements.
  • The ability to understand current IT technologies and explain them clearly to stakeholders with limited technical knowledge.
  • Strong influencing and relationship-building skills across all levels of an organisation.
  • PRINCE2 or a similar recognised project management qualification.
  • Experience of Agile project delivery.
