Network Engineer - CISCO, SD-WAN, Palo Alto, Routing, Switching, IDS/IPS
Our global US law firm client are currently going through a substantial transformation programme and expansion throughout the EMEA, as a result of this they are bolstering their IT team with a numberous amount of roles, one of which will be the Network Engineer (CISCO, SD-WAN, Palo Alto, Routing, Switching, IDS/IPS).
This role will have a significant contribution to the organisations network infrastructure design, implementation and operations. This is a great opportunity to join a growing and ambitious firm with a great deal of remote working available.
To be considered for this Network Engineer (CISCO, SD-WAN, Palo Alto, Routing, Switching, IDS/IPS) role, it's ideal that you have:
- Relevant experience of at least 5 years within a similar role
- Ideal but not required law-firm experience
- Ideally a BSc in CompSci or Networking related fields.
- Relevant certifications (CCNP, CCIE, AWS, Azure etc.)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contribute to global Wide Area Network (WAN) operations, ensuring high availability, scalability, and performance.
- Participate in the deployment and optimization of Software-Defined WAN (SD-WAN) solutions to enhance network agility and cost-efficiency.
- Design, implement, and maintain multiple networks connecting via advanced routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP.
- Implement on-premises-to-public-cloud connectivity, including hybrid network architectures.
- Set up and maintain cloud networking environments in Microsoft Azure and/or Amazon AWS, including VPCs, VPNs, and Direct Connect/ExpressRoute.
- Ensure seamless integration of cloud-based services with enterprise network infrastructure.
- Implement and refine Quality of Service (QoS) policies for traffic prioritization, ensuring optimal performance for critical applications (e.g., VoIP, video, business systems).
- Monitor and troubleshoot network latency, packet loss, and bandwidth utilization.
- Collaborate with network engineering teams across multiple geographic locations, fostering technical knowledge sharing.
- Support resource allocation and project execution to meet organizational goals.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
- Maintain network uptime, security, and compliance with industry standards (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST).
- Configure monitoring tools, high availability setups, and disaster recovery plans for network infrastructure.
- Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, policies, and procedures.
- Partner with IT leadership, application teams, and external vendors to align network capabilities with organizational needs.
- Serve as an escalation point for complex network issues and outages.
- Contribute to network-related projects, such as infrastructure upgrades, cloud migrations, or SD-WAN rollouts, ensuring technical deliverables are met on time.
- This role may be required to participate in an on-call rotation to support incident management processes as a member of the global Network engineering team.
- Some (limited) non-standard hours may be required to support Network changes as part of the change management process and approved windows.
