The role

The core of this role is data protection and privacy law in private practice. You will advise a varied external client base on UK GDPR, PECR, and the DPA 2018, handling matters from day-to-day compliance advisory through to complex regulatory questions. You will be expected to manage client relationships and produce clear, high-quality written advice with a degree of autonomy appropriate to your level. Alongside this, you will have the opportunity to develop or apply experience in UK and EU telecoms regulation (the Communications Act, Ofcom frameworks, and the European Electronic Communications Code). The role also involves support on IT and commercial matters as part of the firm’s wider TMT practice.

What we are looking for

Essential:

– 2–4 years PQE with solid, demonstrable experience in data protection and privacy law gained primarily in private practice at a UK law firm

– Strong working knowledge of UK GDPR, PECR, and the DPA 2018

– A track record of advising external clients directly and producing high-quality written regulatory advice

– Ability to manage matters and client relationships independently and with confidence

Desirable:

– Experience in telecoms or electronic communications regulation (Ofcom, Communications Act, EECC)

– Familiarity with AI governance and emerging technology regulation

– Exposure to cross-border data transfer compliance or international regulatory work
