£90,000–£110,000 + Bonus + Benefits

We are partnering with an innovative technology company based in Cambridge developing advanced medical systems for next-generation products. Following continued growth and new project investment, the business is now looking to hire an Engineering Manager to lead embedded software development activities across multiple projects.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys combining hands-on technical work with team leadership and project delivery. You will play a key role in managing embedded software development, supporting engineers, and working closely with electronics, systems, and hardware teams to deliver high-performance products from concept through to production.

The role is based in Cambridge and requires office working of 3 days a week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead embedded software development across new and existing products.
  • Manage and support a team of 5 embedded software engineers.
  • Work closely with electronics and hardware teams on system integration and debugging.
  • Drive software architecture, code quality, and engineering best practices.
  • Support project planning, delivery timelines, and technical decision-making.
  • Support testing, validation, and product release activities.

Experience Required

  • Degree-qualified in Software Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience developing embedded software using C/C++.
  • Experience working with RTOS, bare-metal systems, or embedded Linux environments.
  • Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across hardware/software integration.
  • Experience with communication protocols such as SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, or Ethernet.
  • Previous team leadership or engineering management experience.

Bonus Skills

  • Experience with ARM-based microcontrollers or SoCs.
  • Exposure to safety-critical, high-performance, or real-time systems.
  • Previous experience in Medical devices.
