FPGA Engineer
London – Hybrid (2–3 days in the office)
£80,000–£90,000
I’m currently working with a cutting-edge technology company based in London who are looking for an FPGA Engineer to join their growing hardware team on a hybrid basis!
The company develops high-performance, real-time systems used across sectors such as telecommunications, fintech, and advanced computing. They are market leaders within their respective space and push boundaries of hardware acceleration and are continuing to invest heavily in FPGA and low-latency technology as they scale.
You’ll be joining a highly skilled engineering team and will play a key role in the design and development of FPGA-based solutions. The role is hands-on, focusing on implementing high-speed digital designs and optimising performance-critical systems. You’ll work closely with hardware, software and systems engineers to deliver scalable solutions, contributing across the full development lifecycle from architecture through to testing and deployment. You’ll also work closely with clients to understand requirements and collaborate with the teams.
The office is based in London, and they are looking for someone to be onsite 2–3 days per week. Sponsorship cannot be offered for this role.
Technical Requirements:
- Strong experience with FPGA development using VHDL or Verilog.
- Experience with FPGA toolchains such as Xilinx Vivado or Intel Quartus.
- Understanding of digital design principles, timing analysis, and clock domain crossing.
- Experience implementing high-speed interfaces (e.g. PCIe, Ethernet, DDR).
- Familiarity with simulation and verification tools (e.g. ModelSim, Questa).
- Experience with debugging FPGA designs and hardware bring-up.
- Understanding of signal processing or data path design is advantageous.
- Familiarity with version control (e.g. Git).
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Nice to Have:
- Experience with high-frequency or low-latency systems (e.g. trading, networking).
- Knowledge of embedded processors within FPGAs (e.g. ARM cores, SoCs).
- Experience with HLS (High-Level Synthesis) tools.
- Exposure to C/C++ or Python for testbench development.
- Experience working in regulated or safety-critical environments.
Salary/Benefits:
£80,000–£90,000, Bonus, 5% Pension, Medical, 25 Days Holiday
