JOB – Head of Technical Operations

LOCATION – Oxford

TERM – Permanent

SALARY – £60,000 to £70,000 per annum (plus benefits)

Premier Engineering is working with an innovative technology company based in Oxford, currently seeking a Head of Technical Operations. This is a key leadership role for an experienced technical professional to oversee and drive all aspects of operations, development, and support across their growing product range.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the manufacturing team to ensure optimal stock levels, timely instrument builds, and effective quality control procedures
• Guide the multi-disciplinary technical team (including mechanical design, electronics, software, and microfluidics), contributing hands-on technical expertise while fostering a collaborative and innovative culture
• Oversee field servicing of instruments, ensuring service engineers are fully supported and customer satisfaction is maintained
• Work closely with biology, sales, and customer support teams to ensure alignment across departments and successful product delivery
• Take ownership of continuous improvement initiatives in technical operations and development processes

The ideal candidate will have:

• Proven leadership experience within a technical or engineering operations role
• A background in product development and manufacturing in a high-tech or scientific environment
• Strong technical expertise in at least one of the following areas: mechanical engineering, electronics, embedded systems, or instrumentation
• Excellent team management, problem-solving, and communication skills
• A collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, small company environment
