- Creating 3D models (primarily sheet metal parts) and assemblies, issuing designs for manufacture through engineering drawings and supplementary documentation (Bills of Materials, etc.).
- Carrying out detailed mechanical design work including simulation and design verification testing, as required and reviewing and approving design information from other team members.
- Adhering to quality systems (primarily ISO 9001), including using Engineering Change Notifications (ECNs) to document changes, and participating in research, development, and product testing as agreed with the Engineering Manager.
- Conducting technical investigations, performing RCA and initiating corrective actions.
- Providing technical support to Production, Sales, Service, and Customer Support and ensuring the on-time and within budget delivery of projects managing a complex workload efficiently.

It is envisaged that the successful Mechanical Design Engineer candidate will demonstrate at least 2 years' mechanical design experience, gained preferably with electrical equipment, and have attained a degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant mechanical engineering discipline. You will have good knowledge and experience of at least one modern 3D modelling package (preferably AutoDesk Inventor) and familiarity with UKCA, CE marking processes and DFMEA and experience in designing electrical equipment and/or machinery.
Experience of designing sheet metal constructions and in performing structural analysis (FEA and/or CFD) using design tools such as Ansys would be distinctly advantageous, as would knowledge of designing production tooling.
