Prescient is working with one of the leading electrical engineering companies in the UK who specialise in understanding and meeting the requirements of the UK water industry.
The purpose of the role is to take a leadership role in all aspects of control systems integration, including the design, development, and commissioning of software solutions provided by the company for client contracts and projects. This includes work within the office, workshop, and on client sites as required.
Experience within the water systems industry is preferred but not essential.
The Job
You will translate customer design briefs into high-quality technical solutions, including I/O schedules, system architecture design, functional design specifications, and software development for PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.
To ensure full compliance with relevant standards, legal requirements, and client-specific requirements across all products and services.
To act as a senior technical resource, mentoring junior engineers and ensuring the timely, efficient, and effective delivery of projects.
Key Responsibilities
Lead adherence to QA processes and procedures, driving improvements where necessary.
Create, review, and refine high-standard project documentation, including functional design specifications and test plans, for both internal and client use.
Develop PLC software for multiple hardware platforms.
Create HMI and SCADA software solutions for various systems, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability.
Oversee internal simulation and testing of projects.
Lead testing and validation within MCCs and during workshop integration phases.
Execute commissioning activities on client sites with minimal supervision.
Conduct technical reviews of documentation, designs, and software created by team members to ensure quality and compliance.
Client Engagement: Act as a senior representative during project discussions and reviews with clients.
What you will Bring
Bachelor’s or master’s degree or HNC, HND in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
Ideally proven expertise in software development, system architecture, water authority process and specifications (5 - 7 years preferred).
Current certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, Kubernetes) are an advantage.
Strongly proficient in PLC, HMI, and SCADA programming for multiple platforms.
Strong knowledge of industry standards, including engineering compliance and QA practices.
Willingness to travel to site
Current UK driving license (Advantage)
