Systems Engineer

About this Role

We are seeking a highly driven System Engineer (DCS & Safety). This is an exciting permanent opportunity within the Industrial Automation sector, offering a blend of office based and remote work, with travel across the UK, Europe, offshore, and internationally as required.

The role involves delivering first-class technical support and includes tasks such as:

• System and safety design (including SIL classification and lifecycle compliance)
• Project planning and execution
• Configuration and programming for DCS and Safety systems
• Factory and Site Acceptance Testing
• Transition to site and commissioning
• Supervision of suppliers and quality control
• Completion of project documentation and formal handover to the client

You will be working on continuous and batch process control systems and involved in creating solutions that support autonomous operations and digital transformation for our clients across a wide range of industries.

What We’re Looking For

Skills and Experience:

• Proven experience in a similar role within the oil & gas, petrochemical, or industrial automation sectors
• Minimum HNC qualification in engineering or a process-related subject
• Ideally TUV Functional Safety Certified, or demonstrable understanding of functional safety concepts
• Competence in DCS software configuration and batch/continuous process programming
• Experience in alarm rationalisation and knowledge of EEMUA 191
• Knowledge of safety systems (SIL classification, SIF calculations, logic solver implementation, etc.)
• Familiarity with management systems such as ISO 9001, 14001, 27001, and 45001
• Willingness and ability to travel to client sites including offshore (offshore certification is a plus, though training can be provided)
• Full UK driving licence required
