PCN GP Assistant
Job summary
South Rural Primary Care Network is seeking a permanent GP assistant to be based at Bildeston Health Centre. The post is offered on a part-time basis, for up to 23 hours a week, ideally to include Mondays and Wednesdays. The successful applicant will play a key role in supporting our GP's with a mix of administrative and clinical tasks in the community and practice.
Main duties of the job
- Managing incoming and outgoing clinical correspondence
- Extracting information from clinical documents that require coding
- Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow-up appointments
- Completing basic (non-opinion) forms, and core elements of some forms, for the GP to approve and sign
- Improving patient flow
- Supporting patient experience by reiterating information from the GP
- Assisting with practice tasks
- Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies e.g. arranging admission
About us
South Rural PCN provides services to 56,000 patients across rural Suffolk and is headed by 2 proactive, supportive and committed Clinical Directors. Our PCN includes the following practices: Bildeston Health Centre, Constable Country Medical Practice (East Bergholt and Capel St Mary), Hadleigh Health Centre, The Holbrook and Shotley Surgeries and Needham Market Country Practice.
Bildeston Health Centre is a friendly, medium sized, rural dispensing practice. We are CQC rated GOOD and score very highly on the Patient Experience survey. We have a growing list size of 7100+ patients with three GP partners. We currently have 2 Practices Nurse and 2 HCAs and a very supportive care navigation and admin team.
We are active members of the South Rural PCN who provide us with a practice paramedic and clinical pharmacist.

Experience
- Administrative experience
- Strong organisational skills
- IT skills, including experience of working with a clinical system
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly manner
- Ability to understand the need to maintain confidentiality and data security, at all times
- Ability to multi-task and to work accurately under pressure
- Ability to work in a team as well as being comfortable working independently
