Junior Data Analyst

Job summary

The Junior Data Analyst will work closely with the Data Analytics Manager and the wider Digital team to support the review, reporting and analysis of service activity data. The work will contribute directly to service improvement, performance monitoring and strategic decision making across Primary Eyecare Services.

Main duties of the job

  • Helpmaintainthe data warehouse on SQL servers and support the development of data pipelines and semantic models within Microsoft Fabric to enable project reporting and broader business needs
  • Analyse service activity using BI tools such asClicdataand Power BI to generate actionable insights
  • Provide detailed monthly and quarterly performance reports to NHS commissioners and internal stakeholders
  • Perform predictive analysis to support the accruals process and enhance financial forecasting accuracy
  • Track service KPIs and generate comprehensive reports to assess provider performance
  • Identifytrends, gaps, and opportunities to enhance service coverage and efficiency
  • Build andmaintaininteractive dashboards for internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring data transparency
  • Assistinprovidingdata driven insights to support new contract acquisitions and tenders, improving competitive positioning
  • Enhance data quality by implementing validation techniques to improve accuracy, consistency, and reliability
  • Provide regular updates on assigned projects, ensuring progress visibility
  • Assistin creating critical financial reports such as Gross Margin Analysis and Sales Activity Reports, supporting strategic decision making

Role Overview

  • As a Junior Data Analyst, you will work closely with the Data Analytics Manager and the wider Digital team to support the review, reporting and analysis of service activity data. Your work will contribute directly to service improvement, performance monitoring and strategic decisionmaking across Primary Eyecare Services.
  • This role is wellsuited to someone with strong analytical skills who is looking to develop experience working with large healthcare datasets in an NHS environment.

Shift Pattern

  • This is a fulltime position, working 35 hours per week over 5 days (Monday to Friday).
  • Working hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm.

Location

  • This role will be based at the PES Manchester Office during the probationary period.
  • Following successful completion of probation, the role will move to a hybrid working arrangement, with 40% officebased and 60% working from home on a weekly basis.

Role Purpose

  • The Junior Data Analyst will work with our wider team to support the review of our service activity as part of our ongoing objective to improve and develop our services.

Key Responsibilities& Accountabilities

  • Help maintain the data warehouse on SQL servers and support the development of data pipelines and semantic models within Microsoft Fabric to enable project reporting and broader business needs.
  • Analyse service activity using BI tools such as Clicdata and Power BI to generate actionable insights.
  • Provide detailed monthly and quarterly performance reports to NHS commissioners and internal stakeholders.
  • Perform predictive analysis to support the accruals process and enhance financial forecasting accuracy.
  • Track service KPIs and generate comprehensive reports to assess provider performance.
  • Identify trends, gaps, and opportunities to enhance service coverage and efficiency.
  • Build and maintain interactive dashboards for internal teams and external stakeholders, ensuring data transparency.

  • Degree level qualification (or equivalent experience)

Experience

Essential
  • Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of a range of data analytic, economic analysis and modelling procedures and practices
  • Experience in working with and analysing large and complex data sources
Desirable
  • Systematic evidence reviewing procedures and techniques- including critical appraisal, interpretation and synthesis of health care research evidence
  • Extensive experience of developing and critiquing health economic models and analyses
  • Experience in using technical evaluation in policy formulation and decision making
  • Experience in NHS submissions preferred e.g. Secondary Use Services or Data Landing Portal (DLP)
