Senior.NET Developer (Healthcare Technology)

Location: PES Manchester Office (40 %) / Hybrid (60%)

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Digital Product Lead, we are seeking a passionate and detail-oriented Senior .NET Developer to join our Digital team. In this role, you’ll join a team working on green field projects and contribute to building secure, scalable, and user-friendly applications that support healthcare professionals and improve patient outcomes. This is a fantastic opportunity to own delivery and influence standards across the full stack whilst making a meaningful and noticeable impact to Primary Eyecare Service .

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities

  • Working in an Agile team, guide and assist in the design, development and maintenance of a C# .NET-based greenfield healthcare application.
  • Collaborate with clinical leads and stakeholders to understand ambiguous problems and user needs then translate them into elegant software solutions or designs.
  • Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code following industry and healthcare compliance standards (e.g., GDPR, Data Protection Act, NHS IG).
  • Provide day-to-day technical mentorship of Junior and Mid-level developers.
  • Conduct thoughtful code reviews, testing, and debugging of applications. Where necessary, pair up with more junior members.
  • Design, develop and support integrations with NHS FHIR and third-party API’s.
  • Stay informed about healthcare technology trends and regulatory requirements.

Person Specification

Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Essential

Significant experience building cloud-hosted .Net services at scale, including architecture, performance tuning and production operations. Essential

Experience working with healthcare data formats or open standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR, openEHR). Desirable

Experience with Azure (App Service/Container Apps, Postgres Flexible server, Managed Identity, Key Vault), API Gateways and message brokers. Desirable

Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices. Desirable

Deep proficiency in C# and the .NET framework (.NET Core or .NET 6+ preferred). Essential

Solid understanding of object-oriented programming, RESTful design, web-development and distributed source code control systems (Git). Essential

Strong knowledge of SQL and Postgres (query planning, indexing, JSON operators, etc) and pragmatic use of Dapper. Essential

Exposure to front-end technologies (e.g., Blazor, Angular, or React) for effective API-consumer collaboration. Essential

Track record of engineering testable systems: fast unit tests, meaningful integration/E2E Tests, CI Pipelines though Azure. Essential

Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Essential

Interest in healthcare and improving patient care through technology. Essential

Grounding in security and data privacy in healthcare environments. Desirable

Knowledge of observability tools. Desirable
