AI & Automation Engineer

Location: Dublin, Ireland (Hybrid - 2-3 days onsite)

Contract: Initial 9 months (extension likely)

I'm recruiting for a Senior AI Engineer to join a major organisation as it builds out its internal AI capability. This is an opportunity to join at the beginning of a significant AI programme, working on real business problems rather than proofs of concept.

You'll work alongside an established AI team and help design, build and productionise AI solutions that improve operational efficiency across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build production-ready AI solutions using Microsoft Azure AI technologies.
  • Develop RAG-powered applications over large, complex document repositories.
  • Design and implement AI Agents and intelligent automation workflows.
  • Build document intelligence solutions using OCR, LLMs and AI-powered information extraction.
  • Help establish best practice around AI architecture, governance and engineering standards.
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Mentor internal team members and contribute to building long-term AI capability.
  • Evaluate new AI technologies and recommend appropriate approaches where they add value.

Required Experience

  • Strong commercial experience delivering production AI solutions.
  • Excellent Python development skills.
  • Experience building Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) applications.
  • Experience with Azure OpenAI and Microsoft AI Services.
  • Strong understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering and AI evaluation.
  • Experience designing document intelligence and information extraction solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with AI Agents or agentic workflows.
  • Experience working with Azure AI Search and vector search technologies.
  • Strong software engineering and solution design skills.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work directly with business stakeholders.

Desirable Experience

  • Azure Databricks.
  • Azure Machine Learning.
  • ML Ops and CI/CD pipelines.
  • LangChain, LangGraph or similar frameworks.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform.
  • Experience implementing Human-in-the-Loop workflows.
  • Experience designing enterprise AI architecture and governance.
