Back End Integration Engineer
Here at Primus we are working with an exciting organisation that is undergoing a significant modernisation of its technology landscape. They're investing heavily in cloud platforms, integrations, and automation to support long term business growth.
As part of this transformation, they're looking to hire a Back End Integration Engineer to join their team.
The role
This is a hands on engineering role focused on designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable, and reliable integrations across a complex systems landscape. You'll play a key role in improving how applications and data interact, working closely with engineering and business teams to deliver robust integration solutions.
Key responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deliver integration solutions connecting enterprise systems, cloud platforms, and external services
- Create and support backend services including APIs, messaging solutions, workflow orchestration, and data interaction layers
- Implement appropriate integration approaches while adhering to security controls, architectural standards, and regulatory guidelines
- Contribute to technical design forums, helping shape solution direction and promote strong engineering standards
- Build reusable and scalable integration assets to improve delivery speed and consistency
- Produce clean, secure, and maintainable backend code using modern development languages such as C# or Python
- Support automated build, test, and deployment processes, including peer code reviews
- Deliver work within iterative, agile-based development cycles
- Assist with incident investigation, issue resolution, and post-deployment support
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, data, and architecture stakeholders
- Convert business needs and technical requirements into practical and effective integration designs
- Review system performance and reliability, identifying opportunities to streamline solutions and reduce complexity
- Ensure integration solutions meet security, risk, and compliance expectations
Essential experience
- Strong hands on experience designing and building APIs, services, and system integrations
- Solid understanding of integration patterns (REST, messaging, event driven, orchestration)
- Experience with cloud integration services such as Azure API Management, Service Bus, Event Grid, Functions
- Proficiency in back end development (C# or Python) with a strong focus on secure coding
- Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and modern engineering practices
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams
