AWS Platform Engineer

AWS Platform Engineer | AWS, Terraform & Kubernetes | High-Impact Cloud Consulting

  • Salary: £75,000–£100,000, depending on Senior or Principal level
  • Location: Hybrid working – minimum 1 day per month in the London office
  • Requirement: UK Security Clearance eligibility required
  • Permanent, full-time position

We're hiring Senior and Principal AWS Platform Engineers to join a fast-growing cloud and platform engineering consultancy delivering complex, large-scale programmes for enterprise and public sector clients.

This is a hands-on consulting role, not a support or BAU position. You'll design and build modern AWS platforms, work directly with client engineering teams, and rotate across varied projects every few months. Alongside AWS, the wider business is scaling across Azure, data & AI, software engineering, and emerging cloud practices, so you'll be joining during a genuine growth phase with real opportunity to influence standards and direction.

The Role

As an AWS Platform Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering cloud foundations that enable organisations to move faster and operate more securely.

Depending on level:

  • Senior: you'll focus on hands-on delivery, building and evolving AWS platforms and landing zones.
  • Principal: you'll stay deeply technical while also providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and contributing to early-stage solution design and pre-sales activity.

In this role, you will:

  • Design and build AWS platform foundations and landing zones.
  • Automate infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code.
  • Build and improve CI/CD pipelines for cloud-native delivery.
  • Work with Kubernetes-based platforms where appropriate.
  • Enable application teams to adopt DevOps and cloud-native best practices.
  • Lead and contribute to consulting engagements across discovery, design, build, and handover phases.
  • Run technical workshops and work directly with client stakeholders.

There is no long-term operations or maintenance work - this role is about building platforms properly, then moving on to the next challenge.

Non-Negotiables

  • Strong AWS cloud engineering experience in production environments.
  • Terraform infrastructure as code (essential).
  • Proven CI/CD and automation mindset.
  • Solid understanding of cloud networking, security, and scalable AWS design.
  • Comfortable working in client-facing consulting roles.
  • Eligibility for UK Security Clearance.

What You'll Work With

  • AWS platform engineering and landing zones.
  • Terraform infrastructure as code.
  • CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar).
  • Kubernetes platforms (EKS exposure preferred).
  • Cloud-native security, networking, and identity patterns.

Nice to Haves

  • Background in cloud or DevOps consultancies.
  • Kubernetes experience beyond the basics.
  • Experience rotating across multiple client environments.
  • Enjoyment of mentoring others and raising engineering standards.
  • Exposure to public sector or regulated environments.

Why Join / Projects

  • Deliver high-impact AWS platforms for enterprise and public sector clients.
  • Join during a major growth phase with multiple platform, data, and software hires underway.
  • Projects typically run 3–12 months, keeping work varied and technically challenging.
  • High engineering standards paired with a collaborative, people-first culture.
  • Strong emphasis on learning through delivery, workshops, and shared problem-solving.

Employee Benefits

  • Performance-related bonus.
  • Share options with long-term upside.
  • £1,000 annual learning and development budget.
  • Funded cloud certifications.
  • Hybrid working, with a minimum of one day per month in the London office.
  • Paid client travel.
