Director of Data & AI

Director of Data & AI | Microsoft Azure Stack | AI-Driven Legal Platform

Workplace Type: Hybrid

Location: London

Salary: 130-150k

The Role

This is a senior leadership role for someone who wants to sit at the heart of a business where AI is already embedded into live products, not sitting in a lab or proof-of-concept phase.

You will be responsible for the data and AI capability across a legal platform that delivers AI-powered due diligence and contract review tools. The focus of the role is on maintaining and enhancing existing AI systems, ensuring they continue to perform, scale, and deliver value alongside platform growth.

You will lead a team of around 15 people and play a key role in shaping direction, priorities, and standards across the function. This is a permanent position with a six-month probation period, reporting directly into the CEO. The role is hybrid, with two days per week in the office, and a planned start date around March.

What They're Looking For (Non-Negotiables)

You will need a strong academic background and proven experience working hands-on with AI in production environments.

Specifically, you'll bring:

  • A degree and a relevant master's qualification
  • Previous AI engineering experience
  • Experience leading and managing a team of approximately 15 people
  • Strong experience working within a Microsoft-centric technology environment

What You'll Work With

The platform is built on a Microsoft stack with centrally stored data:

  • Azure Machine Learning
  • Microsoft Fabric
  • Databricks
  • Centralised data lake architecture
  • Microsoft Dynamics CRM
  • AI-powered legal tools focused on due diligence and contract review

Nice to Haves

  • Experience working on established AI products rather than greenfield builds
  • Exposure to complex or high-volume data environments
  • Experience improving, refining, or scaling existing AI capabilities

Why Join / Projects

You'll be joining a business where AI is already part of how the product works, and your role is to make it better — more robust, more scalable, and more impactful. You'll work closely with senior leadership, influence technical direction, and have genuine ownership over how AI evolves within the platform.

The interview process is straightforward and transparent: an initial informal chat, time spent meeting the wider team, and a technical interview.
