Founding Engineer | TypeScript, Python & AI Systems | Building AI Infrastructure for Pharma
Salary: £100-130k

The Role
You will join as a Founding Engineer in a seed-stage AI startup building systems that transform how the pharmaceutical industry processes critical information.
You will help design and build the core platform that ingests global pharma data, applies AI reasoning, and turns raw information into actionable insight and automated workflows for enterprise customers.
Working directly with the founders, you will shape the architecture, infrastructure, and engineering culture from day one while building a product designed to scale into a major enterprise platform.

- TypeScript development
- React frontend development
- Python development
- PostgreSQL database architecture
- LLM orchestration and prompt engineering
- Data ingestion pipelines including APIs, RSS feeds, and web scraping
- Vector databases and modern AI data pipelines
- Cloud infrastructure and SaaS deployment
- Observability, testing frameworks, and CI pipelines
- Proven ability shipping real products such as SaaS platforms, production data pipelines, open-source tools with users, or meaningful side projects
- Strong engineering fundamentals and ability to learn new technologies quickly
- AI coding tools including Cursor, Copilot, Claude Code, or similar

- Healthcare or pharmaceutical data systems
- Biotech or regulatory data experience
- Multi-tenant SaaS architecture
- Enterprise platform deployments
- Data modelling and medallion-style data pipelines
- Security architecture and authentication systems

You will help define the engineering culture, architecture, and technical standards from the earliest stage while building a platform capable of scaling into a major enterprise product.
