Software Engineer | C# .NET, Kafka, Azure | Real-Time Integration – FinTech Bank - 'DevOpsy Developer Role'

6+ Month Contract

£600-650 per day

Outside IR35

Hybrid – Central London (2 days per week onsite)

An opportunity to join a well-renowned (est. 40yrs) Financial Services institution who have been moving into the FinTech world and is now in the process of building an AI-first, event-driven Bank.

They employ circa 700 people globally. You will be working in the development team of; 5 Developers, 2 QA Engineers and product owners. You'll be working closely with the DevOps team to ensure seamless deployment and integration across environments. It’s important that you have a ‘DevOps mindset’ as this a ‘DevOpsy’ developer role.

Tech you'll be using:

• C# .NET – working with the latest versions
• Kafka – core to the architecture; all systems interact via the event bus
• Azure + OpenShift – deployed into a modern Azure container platform
• Kubernetes (AKS) – you should be comfortable with container orchestration
• Terraform & Bicep – for managing infra-as-code
• GitHub Actions – for pipeline automation
• Azure SQL Server – as part of the backend stack

Join a collaborative, high-calibre development team working on the integration layer for a new digital-first bank. You’ll be at the core of building microservices to relay data between D365, Temenos, fraud screening software, internal ERP systems, and a host of Banking-as-a-Service platforms. All built in .NET and running containerised over Azure on OpenShift and Kubernetes.

What you’ll be doing:

• Building backend microservices to relay data via Kafka into a decoupled, real-time event bus
• Designing integration components connecting to core systems like Temenos and D365
• Contributing to the creation of an internal developer platform (IDP) enabling self-service provisioning and deployment
• Writing infrastructure-as-code with Terraform and deploying via GitHub Actions
• Containerising workloads for Kubernetes; shaping the CI/CD strategy alongside DevOps engineers
• Helping bridge the relationship between dev and ops in a fast-evolving, high-visibility platform team

This is a major programme of work inside a new ground-up real-time banking platform build. Our client is building a platform where Kafka is the source of truth .

What will you bring:

• Strong experience building backend services in .NET with a DevOps mindset
• Solid understanding of Kafka or other event-driven architectures
• Exposure to Docker/Kubernetes and the broader container ecosystem
• Experience building or contributing to developer platforms or self-serve CI/CD pipelines
• A collaborative engineer who thrives in agile teams and enjoys solving platform-level challenges
