Tech Business Analyst
About the Role
Our client is a leading alternative investment manager with a substantial private markets platform spanning private equity, private credit, infrastructure, and real assets. As part of an ambitious technology transformation programme, they are seeking a hands-on Business Analyst with deep experience across the core private markets technology stack — Snowflake, SS&C, DealCloud, iLevel, and Investran.
This is not a slide-deck BA role. You will be expected to get into the data — writing SQL, interrogating data models, mapping fund flows across systems, and driving meaningful change. You will bridge the gap between investment operations, finance, and technology teams, translating complex business requirements into actionable technical specifications while maintaining a strong grasp of the underlying data architecture.
The role is based in UK with fortnightly travel to the Switzerland office, making strong cross-border stakeholder management a key success factor.
Key Responsibilities
Data & Systems Analysis
- Write and optimise SQL queries in Snowflake to support data validation, reconciliation, and ad hoc analysis across the fund accounting and portfolio data ecosystem
- Own end-to-end data lineage mapping across Investran, iLevel, SS&C, and Snowflake — identifying gaps, inconsistencies, and transformation logic
- Develop and maintain functional specifications, data dictionaries, and system integration documentation
- Perform detailed data quality assessments across portfolio monitoring, NAV reporting, and investor reporting pipelines
Business & Stakeholder Engagement
- Elicit, challenge, and document requirements from investment operations, finance, investor relations, and technology stakeholders across the UK and Switzerland
- Translate complex fund accounting and portfolio data concepts into clear technical requirements for engineering and development teams
- Act as the bridge between the business and DealCloud CRM/deal pipeline administrators, iLevel portfolio monitoring teams, and Investran fund accounting users
- Facilitate workshops, process walkthroughs, and sign-off sessions with senior business stakeholders
Project Delivery & Change
- Support the delivery of data migration, system integration, and platform upgrade projects across the private markets technology stack
- Produce high-quality BRDs, FRDs, process maps, UAT scripts, and acceptance criteria
- Lead and coordinate UAT phases — working directly with end users to validate data, workflows, and system behaviour
- Identify process inefficiencies and recommend automation or system-led improvements
- Manage multiple concurrent workstreams across Switzerland and UK-based delivery teams
Essential
- 5+ years' experience as a Business Analyst in financial services, with a minimum of 2 years in alternative investments or private markets
- Hands-on proficiency in SQL — comfortable writing queries, validating data, and troubleshooting data issues independently in Snowflake or equivalent cloud data warehouse
- Direct working experience with at least two of the five core platforms: Snowflake, DealCloud, iLevel, Investran, SS&C
- Strong understanding of fund accounting concepts — NAV, waterfall calculations, capital calls, distributions, LP reporting
- Proven track record of delivering complex, multi-stakeholder BA projects in a cross-border or international environment
- Excellent documentation skills: BRDs, FRDs, process flows, data dictionaries, UAT scripts
- Confident communicator — able to engage both technically with developers and credibly with C-suite and senior investment professionals
- Comfortable with regular international travel (fortnightly Switzerland trips are a core requirement of this role)
Highly Desirable
- Experience across all five platforms: Snowflake, DealCloud, iLevel, Investran, and SS&C
- Knowledge of ILPA reporting standards, INREV guidelines, or IPEV valuation principles
- Experience supporting system implementations, data migrations, or platform upgrades in a private markets context
- Familiarity with Agile / hybrid delivery methodologies
- Fluency in German or French would be an advantage but is not required
