Test Engineer
Position: Test Engineer
Location: Cramlington
This an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, friendly and inclusive manufacturing environment, working as part of a dedicated team of engineers. You will provide essential Test Engineering support across manufacturing, helping to diagnose complex electrical and electronic systems and ensuring production continues efficiently and to programme.
Responsibilities:
- Providing Test Engineering support to operators on the shopfloor
- Supporting the introduction and implementation of new test equipment
- Testing and diagnosing complex electrical and electronic systems, sub-assemblies and circuit cards down to component level
- Applying digital and analogue electronic measurement and test principles to identify and resolve faults
- Generating test specifications, operator instructions and technical reports based on higher-level requirements and technical information
- Promptly identifying remedial and corrective actions following production test failures
- Working closely with Manufacturing to ensure production can continue in line with programme requirements
- Supporting investigations into test failures and providing appropriate technical solutions
- Supporting meetings with Quality and Operations, providing updates on Test Engineering actions, investigations and progress
- Planning and organising workload effectively in line with assigned priorities
Skills:
- Minimum HNC level Engineering qualification or equivalent
- Demonstrable experience in electrical/electronic test engineering and fault diagnosis down to component level
- Good understanding of digital and analogue electronic measurement and test principles
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Awareness of electrical/electronic subsystem and system design, integration and test principles
- Experience generating test specifications, operator instructions and technical reports
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work effectively with Manufacturing, Quality and Operations teams
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage workload effectively
- A methodical and analytical approach to problem solving
