  • £28,000 - £40,000, dependant on experience
  • 40 hours per week, with an earlier finish on Friday’s

Role Overview / Focus

A hands-on role focused on product and software verification testing, supporting the development of manufacturing test equipment, and diagnosing and repairing faulty PCBs from production failures and returned products (RMAs).

R&D Test Technician Candidate Key Requirements

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or another STEM discipline.
  • Hands-on electronics experience, including PCB testing, soldering/rework, cable harness assembly and fault diagnosis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose faults and learn new technologies quickly.
  • Interest in IoT, connected devices and device-to-cloud communications, with the ability to work across both hardware and software testing.
  • Organised and self-motivated, able to manage multiple priorities, work independently and build effective relationships across the business.

R&D Test Technician Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble prototypes, test harnesses and jigs, and carry out design validation, environmental chamber, EMC, ESD and functional software testing of products and applications.
  • Document test results and report findings to Design Engineers; assist with integration testing between company devices and backend systems.
  • Process RMAs, diagnose and repair faults, categorise failures, produce work instructions and rework quality assurance (QA) end-of-line (EOL) failures.
  • Liaise with suppliers on specifications and technical documentation for outsourced test equipment, while maintaining professional standards and adhering to company procedures.
