Commercial Director

Profectus Recruitment are supporting a well-established UK software business in their search for a Commercial Director to lead the organisation's commercial strategy through its next phase of growth. This senior leadership role carries responsibility for full P&L ownership, commercial performance, market strategy, revenue generation, client engagement and shaping the long-term commercial direction of the business.

About the Role

The Commercial Director will define and drive the commercial strategy of the organisation, working closely with the Group Leadership team and an experienced internal management structure. You will oversee revenue planning, guide sales and client engagement, support product commercialisation and ensure successful delivery of growth targets.

You will also take full responsibility for P&L management, ensuring the commercial decisions made drive profitable and sustainable growth.

The organisation provides software solutions widely used across their sector, and the successful candidate will play a key role in aligning product direction with market needs, strengthening customer relationships and enabling the wider management team to deliver on commercial objectives.

Key Requirements

Leadership and Strategy

• Senior commercial leadership experience within a UK software business

• Full P&L ownership and commercial planning capability

• Proven ability to define and execute long-term commercial strategy

• Experience working across cross-functional teams including sales, product, delivery and support

Commercial, Sales and Client Engagement

• Demonstrable ability to grow a business unit, product line or market segment

• Experience managing senior client and enterprise relationships

• Strong commercial mindset, ideally with exposure to change management environments

• Ideally, awareness of the competitive landscape within fitness and leisure technology

Financial and Operational Commercial Management

• Track record of meeting or exceeding revenue and margin targets

• Experience designing and managing commercial incentives and reward structures

• Understanding of statutory, legal and contractual obligations from a commercial perspective

• Ability to implement robust commercial controls and manage risk

Product, R&D, Delivery and Support Alignment

• Experience working closely with software development, product and delivery teams

• Ability to structure commercial models for support, maintenance and managed services

• Understanding of how AI technologies can enhance customer-facing features and internal operations
