Data Architect Salary: Circa 80k Working arrangement: flexible, travel to Durham once or twice a week, remaining WFH Overview We are supporting a large, values-driven organisation to recruit a Data Architect. This is a senior role responsible for shaping and delivering enterprise data strategy across a complex technology environment. You will act as the technical authority for data and AI, ensuring data is secure, high quality and effectively used to support business outcomes.Key Responsibilities
  • Define and deliver data strategy aligned to organisational goals
  • Design enterprise data architectures including data warehouses, lakes and modern approaches such as data fabric or mesh
  • Lead data modelling, integration and optimisation of data flows
  • Establish and enforce data governance, standards and best practice
  • Oversee ETL and ELT pipelines and data integration across cloud and on-premise platforms
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor data teams
  • Engage senior stakeholders and translate business needs into data solutions
  • Support AI initiatives by ensuring reliable and well-governed data
Skills and Experience Essential
  • Proven experience delivering enterprise-level data architecture
  • Strong SQL and experience with Python or Java
  • Experience with ETL or ELT tools such as Airflow, Talend or Informatica
  • Experience with data warehouses and data lakes
  • Strong data modelling and data governance experience
  • Experience with APIs and data integration
Desirable
  • Cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP
  • Exposure to AI or machine learning
  • Knowledge of big data technologies
