Technical Lead & Enterprise Architect

Job Title: Technical Lead and Enterprise Architect Salary: Circa 80k Working arrangement: flexible, travel to Durham once or twice a week, remaining WFH Role Summary We are looking for a Technical Lead and Enterprise Architect to lead the design and delivery of a digital transformation programme. This role defines target architectures, ensures scalability, strong data foundations and alignment with organisational strategy. It combines strategic leadership with hands-on technical delivery, solving complex challenges and coaching teams to elevate their capabilities.Key Responsibilities
  • Define and deliver secure, scalable target architectures and digital platforms.
  • Maintain and evolve architecture blueprints, technical standards and roadmaps.
  • Lead technology prioritisation, modernisation and optimisation, including cloud, APIs, microservices and automation.
  • Provide evidence-based architectural advice to senior leadership and support risk management.
  • Support delivery teams during implementation, ensuring adherence to architecture standards and reducing technical debt.
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies including AI and automation, recommending innovations for efficiency and value.
  • Collaborate with teams to ensure solutions meet customer needs and organisational standards.
  • Participate in design authority meetings and technical reviews.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Degree in STEM, Computer Science, Information Systems or similar.
  • Relevant architecture certification (e.g., TOGAF, AWS, Azure, Salesforce).
  • Experience leading major transformation programmes and enterprise platform delivery.
  • Experience with digital-first platforms, customer portals or mobile applications.
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure, CRM and data platforms.
  • Understanding of compliance, regulatory standards, DevOps and agile delivery.
  • Practical experience with AI technologies such as LLMs or RAG frameworks.
