Full Stack Engineer

Full-Stack Python Engineer (Backend-leaning, React exposure)

EdTech - Outside IR35

I'm supporting an EdTech start-up doing some genuinely exciting work in the learning space, and they're looking for a Full-Stack Python Engineer to join on a 6-month contract.

This is a hands-on build role, working closely with the Head of Tech and contributing directly to core product features. It's mostly back-end-focused, but there will be some front-end React work initially, so full-stack experience is important.

What they're looking for:

A strong Python engineer (4–5 years) who's comfortable owning back-end services, understands micro services, and can support the front-end when needed. Start-up experience or the mindset to work autonomously is key.

Key Responsibilities:

• Designing and building back-end services in Python

• Developing scalable micro-services

• Building and consuming RESTful APIs (FastAPI)

• Working with relational and NoSQL databases

• Supporting React frontend development (initially)

• Collaborating closely with product, frontend, and DevOps

• Writing clean, maintainable code and contributing to reviews

• Following best practices around CI/CD and automated testing

Requirements:

• 3+ years back-end engineering experience

• Strong Python skills

• Experience with FastAPI

• Microservices / distributed systems experience

• Database experience (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.)

• React experience (commercial or strong hands-on)

• Knowledge of Docker / Kubernetes

• Exposure to AWS, GCP, or Azure

Contract Details:

• £400/day – Outside IR35

• 6 months (likely extension)

• Remote (UK)

• Start ASAP

If this sounds like you (or someone you know), feel free to reach out or send a CV + day rate to Zoe.hinkinson@propellondon.com
