Audio Visual Field Service Engineer

Job Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled AV Field Service Engineer to join a team for an established client. The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, testing, and fixing audio-visual systems at client sites. You will ensure the seamless operation of AV systems, providing high-quality support and technical expertise to clients, while delivering exceptional service and solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation & Maintenance:
    • Install, configure, and set up a range of audio-visual systems (e.g., projectors, screens, AV control systems, sound systems, videoconferencing equipment).
    • Conduct regular maintenance and inspections of AV equipment to ensure proper functioning.
    • Perform system upgrades and replacements as required.
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics:
    • Diagnose and resolve technical issues in AV equipment and systems, both in-person and remotely when necessary.
    • Use testing tools and diagnostic software to identify faults and determine the root cause of issues.
    • Provide on-site troubleshooting, including repairs, firmware/software updates, and adjustments.
  • Repair & Fixing:
    • Effectively carry out repairs to faulty AV equipment, both in the field and within workshop facilities.
    • Perform hardware repairs, wiring checks, and system calibration to ensure optimal performance.
    • Maintain a log of all repairs, tests, and installations performed.
  • Client Support & Communication:
    • Provide technical support to clients on-site, offering guidance on AV system use and troubleshooting advice.
    • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their issues, providing clear and timely updates on the status of repairs and installations.
    • Deliver high-quality customer service, building and maintaining strong relationships with clients.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
    • Keep detailed records of service calls, repair logs, and testing results for each client/project.
    • Provide reports on service and installation activities to management.
    • Ensure compliance with company procedures, health & safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Product Knowledge & Continuous Learning:
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest AV technologies, systems, and trends.
    • Attend training sessions and workshops to improve skills and technical knowledge.
    • Provide feedback on product performance and help with the development of technical manuals.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Experience:
    • Proven experience as an AV Field Service Engineer or similar technical role, ideally within the AV industry.
    • Strong understanding of AV systems, including audio systems, video conferencing equipment, projectors, displays, and control systems.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic abilities.
    • Experience with AV testing tools, systems integration, and networked AV systems.
    • Knowledge of common AV protocols (e.g., HDMI, HDBaseT, IP-based AV solutions).
