Audio Visual Installation Engineer

Job Overview:

Our client is seeking a skilled and driven Audio Visual Installation Engineer to join their growing AV integration team. This mid-level role involves the installation, configuration, and commissioning of audio-visual systems in corporate, commercial, and public sector environments. You will work closely with senior engineers and project managers to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, terminate, and test AV systems including projectors, flat panels, control systems, audio DSPs, video conferencing equipment, and structured cabling.
  • Rack build and cable management to a professional standard.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and floor plans.
  • Perform system configuration and basic programming tasks (e.g., touch panels, DSP tuning, IP setup).
  • Conduct site surveys and assist in preparing for installations.
  • Collaborate with clients, contractors, and on-site teams to ensure seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues during and after installation.
  • Support system commissioning and handover documentation.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and follow company and site-specific health and safety policies.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Solid understanding of signal flow, audio/video distribution, and AV control systems.
  • Experience with major AV brands such as Crestron, Extron, AMX, QSC, Biamp, Shure, or similar.
  • Comfortable using power tools, hand tools, and test equipment (e.g., multimeters, cable testers).
  • Familiarity with IP-based AV systems and basic networking knowledge (e.g., static IPs, VLANs).
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • AVIXA CTS or other relevant AV industry certifications.
  • CSCS/ECS or equivalent safety card.
  • PASMA/IPAF certification.
  • Knowledge of Zoom Rooms, Microsoft Teams Rooms, and other UC platforms.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles on live commercial sites.
