Finance Manager

Finance Manager

Location: Milton Keynes, Hybrid

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

About Us

We’re a digital change consultancy helping organisations navigate complex transformation through people, process, and technology. We partner with clients across sectors to deliver practical, data-driven, and sustainable change.

We’re growing — and we’re looking for a Finance Manager who can bring strong financial leadership, commercial insight, and operational excellence to support our continued success.

The Role

As our Finance Manager, you’ll take ownership of the company’s financial operations — ensuring robust financial management, compliance, and strategic insight.

This is a hands-on role suited to a qualified accountant who enjoys both the detail of finance operations and the opportunity to shape financial strategy in a dynamic consultancy environment. You’ll work closely with our senior leadership team, supporting business planning, client profitability analysis, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Be Doing

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Prepare and review monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and commentary.
  • Produce accurate and timely cash flow forecasts and financial reports.
  • Lead budgeting and three-year forecasting processes.
  • Provide financial insight to support decision-making and long-term planning.
  • Support project profitability analysis and client pricing reviews.

Transactional & Operational Finance

  • Oversee accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and banking operations.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate journal postings.
  • Manage VAT returns, HMRC filings, and ensure full compliance with UK financial regulations.
  • Liaise with external accountants for annual accounts, audits, and statutory reporting.
  • Manage relationships with banking partners and optimise cash flow.
  • Maintain and enhance internal financial controls and processes.

Business Partnering & Leadership

  • Partner with the Directors and other teams to build financial awareness and accountability.
  • Provide financial input to client and subcontractor contracts and negotiations.
  • Support pricing strategies and commercial models for consulting projects.
  • Manage and develop junior finance staff.
What We’re Looking For

Essential:

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA).
  • At least 4 years’ experience in a finance role, ideally within an SME or consultancy environment.
  • Strong understanding of UK accounting standards, VAT, and tax compliance.
  • Proficiency in cloud-based finance systems (Xero preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, project-oriented environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience managing subcontractors and IR35 compliance.
  • Familiarity with project accounting or time-based billing models.
  • Experience with government or public sector contracts.
What You’ll Get

  • The opportunity to shape the financial function of a growing digital consultancy.
  • A collaborative and flexible working culture focused on learning and development.
  • Exposure to diverse projects across industries and sectors.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
How to Apply

If you’re looking for a role where you can combine financial rigour with strategic influence — and be part of a consultancy making real change happen — we’d love to hear from you.
