Data and BI Manager
Are you ready to take ownership of a growing Data & BI function? This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on leader to shape and evolve a modern Microsoft data platform, deliver insightful analytics, and mentor a small team while remaining close to the technology in a product manufacturing business on the outskirts of Norwich. We’re looking for someone who thrives at the intersection of strategy and delivery: an architect who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, building high-quality SQL and ETL solutions, and turning complex datasets into impactful Power BI dashboards that drive decision-making.What you’ll be doing
- Lead the design, optimisation, and ongoing evolution of a cloud-based Azure data estate.
- Build and maintain SQL models, queries, and stored procedures to deliver accurate, performant datasets.
- Develop and manage ETL/ELT pipelines using Azure Data Factory and Python.
- Create engaging Power BI dashboards using advanced DAX and Power Query/M.
- Ensure strong governance and data quality standards, providing a trusted “single source of truth.”
- Work with stakeholders across multiple functions to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Automate reporting processes to improve efficiency and reliability.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to a small BI team, encouraging best practice and continuous improvement.
- Promote data literacy and adoption across the organisation, helping to embed data-driven culture.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, including T-SQL, indexing, and performance tuning.
- Proven experience with the Azure data stack (Data Factory, Data Lake Gen2, SQL MI, Power BI, Purview).
- Strong Power BI skills (advanced DAX, Power Query/M).
- Solid understanding of data modelling, ETL design, and relational database principles.
- Proficiency with Python for automation and API integrations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Previous experience leading or mentoring a technical team.
- Experience supporting M&A data workstreams (desirable).
- Opportunity to lead and shape a modern BI function.
- A hands-on role with real influence on technical direction.
- Work across a variety of stakeholders, from operational teams to executive leadership.
- Competitive package and career progression within a supportive environment.
