Director of Resources (Chief of Staff)

RABI is seeking an exceptional Director of Resources (Chief of Staff) to join its Executive Team at a pivotal point in the charity’s evolution. Working closely with the Chief Executive and Director of Services, this post will play a central role in shaping strategy, strengthening organisational performance and ensuring RABI remains well positioned to meet the changing needs of the farming community. This is a broad and influential leadership role, providing oversight across finance, operations, IT, volunteering and corporate services. You will help translate strategy into action, ensuring resources, systems and people are aligned behind the charity’s ambitions. You will also lead organisational governance, risk management and compliance, while providing financial insight and assurance to the Executive Team and Board of Trustees.

A key priority will be driving operational excellence, overseeing the continued development of RABI’s technology, data and business systems, and supporting the evolution of its volunteering model into a coordinated, community-led function. Just as importantly, you will champion a positive, values-driven culture, developing leaders and fostering collaboration across the organisation.

We are looking for a proven senior leader with experience at COO or Chief of Staff level, leading multiple functions, delivering change and building high-performing teams. You will bring strong commercial and financial acumen, excellent governance knowledge and the credibility to engage confidently with trustees, colleagues, volunteers and external stakeholders. Experience within the charity, public or wider purpose-led sector would be advantageous, together with an appreciation of volunteer-led organisations.

The role offers a hybrid working pattern, with approximately one to two days per week based in the office alongside regular travel as required.
