This pivotval role combines software engineering with leadership, where you will take full ownership of the software foundation that underpins both their current and next-generation multimedia communications technology.The Role This hands-on position bridges the gap between evolving proven legacy platforms and accelerating exciting, next-generation innovations. You will be responsible for setting the technical direction and architecture, making calculated decisions under uncertainty whilst leading the team and contributing as an engineer.As a team leader, you will:
- Lead and Mentor: Coach a team of talented engineers, fostering a culture of positivity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Drive Engineering Excellence: Champion rigorous quality practices, ensuring code reviews, automated testing, CI, and static analysis are embedded into day-to-day operations.
- Innovate and Adapt: Challenge established ways of doing things, adopting strategies that enhance workflows and accelerate product evolution.
- Solve Complex Problems: Drive root-cause thinking and debug challenging issues that span complex software and hardware boundaries.
- Deep expertise in embedded software development on Linux.

- Proven background in designing and building middleware, backend services, and systems software.
- Extensive experience developing and optimising high-performance, highly reliable applications.
- Strong ability to navigate and debug complex system interactions.
- Rust – You will be working on Rust, but our client recognise that people with this experience are limited at the moment, and are happy to invest in training
- Embedded Linux and development on resource-constrained platforms.
- IP networking and streaming protocols.
- Multimedia technologies (DisplayPort, HDMI, Video, Audio, USB).
