The organisation is focused on strengthening its culture, enhancing employee engagement, and supporting continued commercial success.The company employs approximately 75 people globally, with its largest hub based in the Cambridge area, alongside employees across the UK and the US.The Opportunity The organisation is seeking an experienced HR Manager to take ownership of the people agenda across its UK and US employee population. This is a standalone role, supported by Finance for payroll administration and external partners for specialist employment law and compliance advice.Reporting directly to the Head of People and Culture, you will act as a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing operational HR support. You'll play a key role in driving employee engagement, developing managers, supporting organisational growth, and ensuring people processes are fit for purpose.Key Responsibilities
- Partner with leaders across the UK and US to provide proactive HR advice and guidance.
- Support employee engagement initiatives and contribute to the ongoing development of company culture.
- Review, develop and implement HR policies, procedures and best practices.
- Provide guidance and support on employee relations matters, including performance management, absence management, disciplinary and grievance issues.
- Coach and develop managers to build leadership capability and people management confidence.
- Support organisational growth through recruitment, onboarding and workforce planning activities.
- Manage and continuously improve HR processes, systems and reporting.
- Ensure HR practices remain compliant with relevant UK and US employment legislation, working alongside external advisors where required.
- Maintain and develop HR metrics and management information to support business decision-making.
- Contribute to people-focused projects, organisational change initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
- Have proven HR generalist experience at HR Manager level.
- Possess experience supporting employees and managers across both UK and US markets (nice to have)
- Have strong employee relations experience and a sound understanding of UK employment legislation.
- Are comfortable working with external advisors to support compliance and employment matters in the US.
- Enjoy operating in a standalone HR environment with autonomy and accountability.
- Have experience supporting organisational change, engagement or culture-focused initiatives.
- Are confident coaching managers and challenging constructively where required.
- Have experience using HR systems and producing meaningful people data and insights.
- Demonstrate excellent communication, relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
- Bring a positive, pragmatic and people-focused approach.
