IT Manager

I’m excited to be partnering with a leading organisation in Cambridge as they look to appoint an IT Manager. This is a senior, hands-on role within a well-established IT function, combining leadership responsibility with day-to-day technical delivery across a complex, multi-site environment.Key Responsibilities
  • Act as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure, server, and network issues
  • Lead day-to-day IT operations, ensuring reliable and high-quality service delivery across multiple sites
  • Support the delivery of IT strategy, translating objectives into practical plans and improvements
  • Oversee infrastructure, systems, and cyber security across the organisation
  • Drive service improvement, technical standards, and operational consistency
  • Deliver and support infrastructure projects including upgrades, migrations, and enhancements
  • Maintain a hands-on approach, supporting users and resolving technical issues where required
  • Line manage and develop the IT team, promoting high standards and collaboration
Experience Required
  • Proven experience in a hands-on IT Manager or senior infrastructure role
  • Strong Microsoft ecosystem experience (Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure)
  • Broad infrastructure knowledge including networking, Wi-Fi, firewalls, servers, and cloud platforms
  • Experience supporting or delivering cyber security best practices (patching, backups, resilience)
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational delivery
  • Experience managing or mentoring technical teams
  • Strong stakeholder communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience working in a multi-site or complex environment
Requirements
  • Able to work 5 days per week on-site in Cambridge
  • Willing to undergo enhanced background and vetting checks
