This is a senior, hands-on role within a well-established IT function, combining leadership responsibility with day-to-day technical delivery across a complex, multi-site environment.Key ResponsibilitiesAct as a senior escalation point for complex infrastructure, server, and network issuesLead day-to-day IT operations, ensuring reliable and high-quality service delivery across multiple sitesSupport the delivery of IT strategy, translating objectives into practical plans and improvementsOversee infrastructure, systems, and cyber security across the organisationDrive service improvement, technical standards, and operational consistencyDeliver and support infrastructure projects including upgrades, migrations, and enhancementsMaintain a hands-on approach, supporting users and resolving technical issues where requiredLine manage and develop the IT team, promoting high standards and collaborationExperience RequiredProven experience in a hands-on IT Manager or senior infrastructure roleStrong Microsoft ecosystem experience (Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Azure)Broad infrastructure knowledge including networking, Wi-Fi, firewalls, servers, and cloud platformsExperience supporting or delivering cyber security best practices (patching, backups, resilience)Ability to balance strategic thinking with operational deliveryExperience managing or mentoring technical teamsStrong stakeholder communication skills across technical and non-technical audiencesExperience working in a multi-site or complex environmentRequirementsAble to work 5 days per week on-site in CambridgeWilling to undergo enhanced background and vetting checksWhy ApplySenior, broad-role IT position with both leadership and hands-on responsibilityOpportunity to influence infrastructure, operations, and ongoing improvementComplex, well-resourced technical environmentStrong benefits package including enhanced pension, generous holiday, and on-site facilitiesLong-term, stable environment with real ownership and impact
