IT Support Engineer – Projects & Infrastructure £40,000 – £45,000 On-site | Cambridge I’m pleased to be supporting a fast-growing and innovative organisation in the search for an experienced IT Support Engineer to join their team in Cambridge. This is a broad and hands-on role combining 2nd and 3rd line support with infrastructure engineering and project delivery.You’ll be supporting a modern Microsoft environment (M365, Azure, Teams, SharePoint) while also leading on the design and implementation of new systems and improvements, helping to evolve the IT estate as the business scales.Key Responsibilities
- Provide 2nd and 3rd line support across Microsoft 365, Windows, and desktop environments
- Lead the delivery of infrastructure and systems projects (e.g. M365, Teams, device management)
- Design, implement, and manage core Microsoft services – Exchange, SharePoint, Intune, Azure AD
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex support issues across hardware, software, and network
- Administer Group Policy, conditional access, MFA, device compliance and endpoint security
- Maintain and optimise virtual server environments (Hyper-V) and backups
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes, including device builds and user setup
- Work with the ITSM tool (ServiceNow or equivalent) to manage escalations and workflows
- Drive process and system improvements with a focus on security, automation and service quality
- Maintain IT documentation, knowledge articles, and change records
- Collaborate with stakeholders and technical teams to deliver effective, user-focused solutions
- 3+ years’ experience in 2nd/3rd line support or a similar IT infrastructure role
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Windows 10/11, Azure AD, and Teams
- Demonstrated experience leading technical change and systems improvement projects
- Comfortable working across the full IT lifecycle – design, delivery, support and optimisation
- Familiarity with ServiceNow or other ITSM platforms
- Good understanding of networking fundamentals – DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, Firewalls
- Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash or Python)
- Hyper-V or equivalent virtualisation experience
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Proactive, customer-focused approach with a passion for continuous improvement
- Relevant certifications (Microsoft, CompTIA, ITIL) are beneficial
